Blur creams seem to be popping up everywhere. Not quite a primer, and not quite a moisturizer, pore creams create a silky layer that help fill in any holes and lines, with added skin benefits that help reduce pores and wrinkles over time. There are quite a few on the market now and I’m weighing in on which ones are worth the purchase. The idea of reduced pores and smooth skin with just a slather of a cream is very enticing, so I put a few to the test to see which ones came out on top.
Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield – this clear serum goes on super smoothly and one pump is plenty to cover the whole face. I love that this comes with an SPF 30, which is a major bonus in my book. The fact that it helps diminish fine lines and wrinkles over time? Well, that’s just icing on the cake.
Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector – with a slight tint, this hybrid gel/cream feels silky and is designed to wear over foundation as the last step in your routine. I like that can be applied over makeup so that you can target areas that need a little extra “blurring”.
L’Oréal Revitalift Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother Finishing Cream – beyond the ridiculously long name, this very affordable blur cream is similar to the Murad one (although in looking at the claims, I think Invisiblur has more long term skin benefits). But if you’re looking for an affordable option that has SPF, this is your gal.
Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch – this silky cream looks and feels more like a moisturizer. Beyond perfecting your skin’s appearance, you can blend onto the neck and chest, which is great for more mature skin. You can also add it to your favorite foundation for power-packed coverage.
Peter Thomas Roth Pore Putty Pore and Wrinkle Reduce – although I don’t necessarily love the name (putty makes me think of filling in the cracks on my wood dining room table), this lightweight product helps eliminate excess sebum, which is great if you have oily skin. This cream also promises smaller pores with long-term use and users agree they have noticed a difference in their skin’s appearance.
