Award season is upon us and there’s one thing that all the fabulous actresses have in common before they walk the red carpet…flawless skin.  Taking care of your skin before a big event is as important as the makeup itself so I’m going to share a few tips and tricks to getting a that flawless look.

When you know you have a big event, make sure you start prepping the beginning of the week.  Limit your salt intake, drink lots of water, and stay out of the sun.  If you’re into facials, do one at least 3 days before to avoid any flareups.

The day of, put on your moisturizer and lip balm about 10 minutes before you start applying your makeup so you’re nice and hydrated.  If your makeup has a tendency to move around, apply a makeup primer to your skin before foundation.

To brighten up the eye area, instead of drawing a half moon of concealer under the eyes, make a triangle by dabbing your concealer diagonally across your cheeks and down the sides of your nose.  Sweep a highlighter on the top of your cheek bones, brow bone, and dab a little on your cupid’s bow to create a fuller pout. Before mascara, curl your lashes to open up those eyes and add a little bit of contour with your bronzer under the chin, along your jawline, and at your temples.

Now that your skin is primed and prepped, you’ll be ready to rock that smokey eye or bright lip!
