Mascara seems to be a touchy subject for people. Everyone is looking for the next big thing to give them false-looking, but at the same time, natural, lashes. And I could try a new mascara everyday and still not test everything out there. But through many attempts at creating the perfect lash, I have found some great ones both cheap and expensive and rounded up my top 10.
Now here’s what I look for in a “good” mascara. Color: it must be black – like true black. I want dark, black lashes, people. Separation: I like volume, but no clumpiness, so separation is key. Length: in my opinion, your lashes can never be too long, so the longer my natural lashes can get, the better. Volume: If I could grow a million lashes on each eye I would, but I’ll settle for a formula that can plump up what I already have without looking like Tammy Faye Bakker. No Fall Out: I’ve mentioned before that I struggle with makeup and mascara ending up under my eyes. Super bummer. Last but definitely not least, Washable: I don’t want to have to soak my eyes for 10 minutes or scrape my lashes to get the mascara off. A few swipes with some remover should be all it takes to get it off.
There are better formulas out there (at least for me) that rarely flake, smear, or slide, and I’ve gathered my top 5 over $20, and top 5 under $20. Here they are:
